A Picture And A Story-Dinner In The City

                               paris boy and dog:
"Hi Johnny.  I see your wearing the new hat.  I'm glad you liked it" I speak to my neighbor as I rush up the steps.  "Thanks for watching Penny today.  Was she a good doggie?"
"She's always good and John loves having her around." His dad Bob answered as Johnny hugs Penny 'good bye.'

"Well come on Penny we have to get inside I have to change and be ready in only a few minutes."  I smiled as I waved goodbye to my neighbors.

"Off for another date with the dream boat?" Bob grinned at me.
I laughed at his silly remark as I rushed Penny inside and ran to
the kitchen to fix her dinner.

"Penny you eat this yummy dinner while I grab a kick shower.  Then while I'm getting ready I'll tell you all about the dream boat."

After a quick shower I'm ready for makeup and hair and that new fabulous dress I've been waiting for just the right occasion.
"Penny remember that fabulous blue velvet dress I brought home the other day?" I paused Penny perked up looking over at the dress laying across my bed. "Yep that is the one.  I'm wearing it tonight.  Gosh I only wish I could have afforded those dreamy vintage pearls.  They looked gorgeous against the velvet."

As I finished my hair and was just stepping into the dress the doorbell rang.  "Oh gosh Penny's he's here!"

She's as excited as I am. I laugh as the dog rushes to the door.
"Coming" I yell as I hop on one foot while strapping a sandal on the other foot.

As I open the door I see him.  I really can't believe he is actually standing on my front porch.  He smiles that gorgeous smile of his.  I find myself holding my breath and I stop and breathe.

And utter the only thing I can think of "Hi."  "Hi yourself. I have something to go with that gorgeous dress.  Can I come in?"
He asks.  "Oh I'm sorry. Yes of course." I blush and step aside as Penny sits on the bottom stair and looks at me like I'm nuts.

"We don't have a lot of time it's a bit of a journey into the city. But I think you'll enjoy this little surprise."

He holds out a velvet box.  Again I catch my breath.  I'm thinking it can't be.  I've seen this box before.  I look up and see the smile on his face.  "Open it."  My hands are shaking as I open the box and see the pearls laying against the velvet. "How did you know I ask?"  He smiled and picked up the necklace and leaned over laying them against my neck as he fastened them.

"Well off we go! Penny 'old girl.  You hold down the fort we'll be back soon.  Maybe we'll bring you a little scrap for your breakfast. Don't wait up!"

And he whisks me away.   Turning the car away from the city.
I look over with a questioning look on my face.

"I said dinner in the city.  I didn't say which city." He grins.

Before I can respond we arrive at a tiny airport. "I didn't even know this was here. I've never been out this way."

And then as we pull up to a lear jet. I'm thinking to myself. No I'm not thinking I'm pinching myself.  This is a dream.  This is a movie. I've seen this movie before.  This cannot be happening.

I want to say as much but before I can speak the car stops and I'm helped out and up the stairs.  As we settle into our seats
a steward comes over to us with a bottle of champagne.  "Enjoy your flight.  It is a lovely evening perfect for flying.

"Just exactly what city will we be dining in?" I ask.

"You'll see.  It's a bit of a flight. Enjoy your champagne."

I take a sip.  And we chat.  We talk about sports. Of all things.

I didn't realize I knew anything about sports.  But as he's talking on about the upcoming baseball season I'm making comments and actually keeping up with the dialogue.  At least for awhile.

I begin to nod off and he smiles.  There he goes with that smile again!

It seems like only a moment later he's gently nudging my arm.
And as I open my eyes and look out the window I see the city lights I ____________________

Now it's your turn to help me with the ending. The Cowboy and I finished this puzzle today.  And as I looked at the lovely view this story came to my mind.  I hope you enjoyed my dream date.

Well, sounds straight out of Julie Roberts and "Pretty Woman". Loved the scene in the movie. Now she gets to go to the opera! Great story, my friend, and thanks for joining in.

Well, I think I will leave it to others to finish this lovely story. My ending might not do it justice. Thank you for visiting my blog and following. It was lovely meeting you too and I shall do the same :)

We can't see her going to a baseball game or hockey game in pearls so it's just got to be the ballet in New York City!
